Pip Hall begins work on letter-cut memorial

Letter Carver Pip Hall has begun work on the stone letter-cut memorial commissioned by Jane Austen's House Museum to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death.

 

Pip has transformed the Bakehouse at the Museum into a make-shift studio and will be in residence here until she finishes her letter-cut work. 

 

The finished memorial will be situated in the garden and will take the form of a beautiful social seating space. Carved into the stone will be a quotation from a Jane Austen letter, placing her words at the heart of this most precious place.
